Closure of Rowan Tree Surgery approved

Please click here  to view the letter about the closure to our patients. This explains the surgery will close permanently at 17:30 on Thursday 23rd January 2020. From this date all Rowan Tree patients can access care from Clanricarde Medical Centre and do NOT need to re-register.

Clanricarde Medical Centre’s application to close its Rowan Tree branch surgery in Tunbridge Wells has been approved.

NHS West Kent Clinical Commissioning Group’s Primary Care Commissioning Committee (CCG’S PCCC) approved the application at its meeting this month (October 2019).

Approval was given following an extended engagement period with patients. All patients registered at Rowan Tree Surgery, aged 16 years and over, were sent a letter detailing the proposals to close the branch surgery, information on Clanricarde Medical Centre and a survey to gather their views.

The CCG, in conjunction with the practice organised four drop-in sessions to help patients complete the surveys, answer queries and address any concerns.

A total of 318 completed surveys were received, representing 10 per cent of all distributed surveys and 11 per cent of all those patients who were directly sent a survey.

Clanricarde Medical Centre has committed to exploring, with the relevant councils, any options for changing public transport to improve access to their services as a small number of patients raised concerns about travel costs and inaccessibility of the main site.

The full engagement report is available in the report to the Primary Care Commissioning Committee.
